🔍 What's happening with Pokémon TCG prices?
Share
In recent months, the Pokémon TCG community has seen something very clear... but no one dares to say it out loud: prices are rising, and it's not just due to demand. There are many factors behind this phenomenon, and at Kanto Poke, we want to talk about it all, without any filters.
💥 The Prismatic Evolutions reprint… a discouraging situation
The news of a US reprint of Prismatic Evolutions excited many, but the reality has been very different:
- US retailers are selling ETBs for as much as $85 USD to retailers , when the original price was around $27–$35 USD.
- This forces stores to offer them to the public for $100 USD or more , just to have a minimum profit margin.
Who wins from this? Definitely not the players or the collectors.
🚫 The pre-sale trap
In Mexico, many stores have already opened pre-sales for Destined Rivals , but they are not telling the whole truth:
Pokémon is shipping only a fraction of the ordered product to distributors outside the U.S.
This means that many stores won't receive nearly the stock they were promised ... and many shoppers will be left waiting or receive cancellations.
At Kanto Poke, we've decided not to do pre-orders . Why?
Because we don't want to use community money as financing when even distributors don't have secured inventory.
📉 Why aren't prices going down?
- Lack of control in distribution.
- Priority to the US in product shipping.
- Resellers and retailers who keep a large part of the stock.
- Stores fear running out of inventory and profits.
All of this creates a price bubble that affects those who truly love this hobby.
